Inbody 570 Analysis

“Sugar and spice and everything nice, that’s what little girls are made of. Frogs and snails and puppy-dog’s tail, that is what little boys are made of.”   That nursery rhyme sounds so sweet, but the truth is we are actually “fearfully and wonderfully” made of water (intracellular and extracellular), muscle mass, fat and then sprinkled with some minerals and electrolytes- that is what everyone is made of.  Resurrection Health has recently purchased a new device, the InBody 570 Analyzer, to assist clients on their wellness journey.  The InBody 570 is cutting-edge technology that can help us understand and break down the proportion of our total water content, skeletal muscle mass and total body fat that exists inside this amazing machine we call our body.  The information provided by this non-invasive tool is invaluable in understanding our physical make-up and setting goals for overall health, fitness and wellness.

For the past few years, BMI (Basic Metabolic Index) has been all the rage in healthcare and in the world of fitness.  The problem with BMI is that it only measures height and weight and this number can be misleading.  For example, it is possible to have a person with high skeletal muscle mass and low-fat percentage have a high BMI.  A BMI is simply dividing the weight by the height, so it is ineffective in providing the full picture of wellness or goal setting for improvement.

On the other hand, the InBody 570 Analyzer can provide a much more detailed analysis of one’s total body make-up and this knowledge can assist in helping your body function more efficiently by improving your metabolism.  This is great news-there is a way to improve your metabolism!   The InBody 570 provides a “positive feedback loop” as your body can work more efficiently in burning calories and fat.   So, get ready to jump into the loop.

Our bodies are made up of two types of water: intracellular water and extracellular water.  The combination of these two types is called “total body water”.  InBody 570 results can tell you if your internal fluids are off balance by showing you the exact amount of intracellular and extracellular water in your body.

We are also made up of bones and muscle which is labeled “dry lean body mass” on the InBody 570mresult sheet. Dry lean mass is the same as SMM (skeletal muscle mass). A high SMM is key to fitness as our muscle burns fat/calories efficiently.

The third ingredient in our bodies is called “body fat mass”.  InBody 570 tells you the percentage of body fat (PBF) you are carrying.  InBody 570 can also break down your percentage of muscle and fat segmentally, indicating how it is distributed in each arm, leg and trunk as well as the percentage of visceral fat (fat surrounding your organs).  A high visceral fat, the fat that is stored deep in the belly, contributes to greater health risks.  These values are all helpful in assessing if you are at risk for heart disease, hypertension, liver disease and diabetes to name just a few.

You may be wondering what is the difference between intracellular and extracellular water and why is that important?  Hopefully, most of the water jostling around inside of us is intracellular (inside the cells). We may experience symptoms such as fatigue, swelling, headache, increased heart rate, dry skin when we are high in extracellular fluids.  That is because we are dehydrated when too much of our water is outside the cells.  This also can cause our weight to fluctuate.     The best way to maintain hydration, or to replenish intracellular fluids is to keep drinking water, especially electrolyte loaded water.  Resurrection Health has other options you may want to consider for infusion therapy to improve hydration.

Our skeletal muscle mass (SMM-or dry lean muscle mass) is very important to overall improved health and weight control.  Increased muscle mass increases our basal metabolic rate.  Our “basal metabolic rate” is how much energy our body burns at rest.   Muscle burns fat and calories more efficiently, that is why it is crucial to measure this value and watch your SMM (muscle mass) increase.   This is the “positive feedback loop” of measuring (with the InBody 570 Analyzer), then making the decision and following through with diet and exercise to increase muscle mass and reassessing your results at a later time. More muscle equals better metabolism which equals better fat/calorie burning which equals looking and feeling your best.  You can train your body to work better for you!

And the more you see results-on paper and feeling it in your body- the easier it becomes to improve and maintain as your body is working with you.

Obviously, a lower percentage of body fat is ideal for looking and feeling good and for decreasing health risks.  We all need some fat but we know it is not healthy to carry around excessive fat.  The InBody 570 can help win the battle against excess fat.

This brief summary of InBody 570 is just the tip of the iceberg.  Resurrection Health has a team ready to help you implement this new tool into your wellness routine.  We have a dietician ready to guide you on healthy food choices, an exercise physiologist, nurses, and a physical therapist on staff.   We would love to answer your questions about InBody 570 and work with you in taking care of and optimizing this one and only, beautiful body God has given you.

Please call Resurrection Health for questions or to set up an appointment to find out what you are made of and how to make the most of it with our Inbody 570.

Cold Plunge Benefits

It may feel like we are in a constant battle against fat but the truth is, we need fat to live.  The fancy word for fat is “adipose tissue”. Our bodies are made up of two kinds of adipose tissue, white fat and brown fat.  BAT (brown adipose tissue) is the acronym for brown fat, and it is desirable for our health and wellness to transform our white fat into BAT (brown fat). Increasing our BAT can do many things to improve our physical and mental health and exposing our bodies to temperature variation, especially a cold plunge bath, is a simple and effective way to do that.

So why is it a good thing to increase our BAT?  Who cares what color our fat is?  Brown adipose tissue (BAT) has the unique ability to burn energy and generate heat in a process known as thermogenesis.  Our bodies are fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14) and many things are happening on a cellular level including the work mitochondria is doing in our cells.  Mitochondria is the substance in your cells that creates cellular energy, so it supports metabolism.  BAT is rich in mitochondria and that is why brown fat is better than white fat. You could think of it as your brown fat is working for you increasing your metabolism thereby burning calories more quickly.  The good news is, there are ways for you to transform your white fat into brown fat.  The cold plunge, now offered at our new Resurrection Health facility, may be just what you’re looking for if you are interested in improving your mood and energy levels, losing weight, decreasing cardiovascular disease and diabetes and many other short-term and long-term improvements for your health and wellness.

The benefits of a cold plunge treatment are so numerous it is hard to cover in one blogpost, entire books have been written on the subject.  The practice of submersion in cold water, or even exposure to cold weather outside, increases our sensitivity to insulin which decreases the chance of developing Type 2 diabetes.  The increased metabolism enhances glucose and lipid metabolism which helps us have a healthier liver and reduces the risk of fatty plaque formation in our arteries, so we have less chance of heart disease and strokes. Regular cold plunge therapy can also reduce blood pressure and heart rate.   There are many long-term benefits of cold plunge therapy.

Cold plunges support our immune system by stimulating leukocytes.  The leukocytes, or white blood cells, fight off illness.  Cold also causes our lymphatic system to contract, forcing fluids through our lymph nodes, which aids in detoxing the body and strengthening our immune system.

Many athletes have discovered that a cold plunge can give them a performance advantage due to the reduction of inflammation in our muscles and joints.  According to studies at the Cleveland Clinic, cold therapy eases muscle soreness after a workout and decreases inflammation. When we are exposed to cold, our blood vessels constrict so blood gets pushed to organs, and, as a result our blood acquires more oxygen and becomes super nutrient rich.  When our bodies heat up after the plunge, our vessels expand causing the oxygen and nutrients to rush back to our tissues which helps flush out inflammation.

And if all the long-term benefits aren’t enough, cold plunge baths can also improve mental health including alertness, mood improvement, higher energy levels and better sleep regulation.  A cold plunge activates our sympathetic nervous system, which releases catecholamines such as dopamine, norepinephrine and epinephrine, into our bodies.  These chemicals, when released in your bloodstream, promote alertness and help with stress/mood control.  Many clients report feeling calmer after a cold plunge and sleeping better at night.

Janelle Pattengale RN, owner of Resurrection Health, says that due to the numerous benefits and the science of cold therapy, providing a cold plunge tub was the logical next step to offer clients who are seeking health and wellness.  "Personally, I have found the cold plunge to be mood enhancing and helps to recover my sore muscles from working out.  The long-term benefits are DNA repair and the insulin sensitivity/risk reduction it supports when one builds this into their routine by reaching the 11-minute interval per week guidance.  Cold plunge therapy goes hand-in-hand with our other wellness offerings to provide a one stop shop for anyone seeking to enhance their lives with our different innovative healthcare services.”

Obviously there have been many advances in modern medicine and wellness over the years, but a cold plunge bath is not one of them.  People who lived 3500 years ago in Greece appreciated the benefits of sitting in a cold tub and it is believed Hippocrates himself was a proponent of the practice.  We have known for a long time that it is good to periodically expose ourselves to cold temperatures to improve our resistance to illness, teach our bodies to adjust to stress and help us sleep better at night.  That’s why your mother buddled you up and sent you out sometimes on a cold winters day, we instinctively know it’s a good idea.

If you are wondering about the shock of jumping in a cold plunge bath, you might want to consider training your body to cold exposure gradually.  Some people start by placing their hand in a bowl of cold water or allow the water to be cold the first few seconds of your next shower.  Going for walks on colder days is helpful in training your body to adapt and to change your white fat into BAT.

Increasing our brown fat is kind of like money or investments in the bank, the interest works for us.  We can help our bodies turn white fat to brown fat, so likewise, our fat is working for us.  Isn’t that cool?  Fearfully and wonderfully made indeed!

If you would like to learn more about this ancient yet brand-new therapy at Resurrection Health, please check out the video listed under our “cold plunge/sauna” tab on our website.  You can book online or call us for an appointment.

Single sessions are available at $20 per session and monthly memberships are $50 per month.  Cold plunge is a safe and effective way to enhance your wellness regimen, please call us for questions.

The Mission Of Resurrection Health

Do you ever wonder why you often feel exhausted, run down and stressed? Do you wish you had more energy, vigor and desire to enjoy your life?  Have you ever looked in the mirror and thought:“I should be doing better physically and mentally, why can’t I get motivated to look and feel better?”.  Janelle Pattengale, founder and owner of Resurrection Health has also shared those thoughts and feelings which motivated her to start her own wellness company. Janelle has created a business which was borne out of a desire to share her knowledge, skills and the ideals of optimizing health for friends, family and the community.

Janelle and her husband, Curt Pattengale, are the parents of two children and reside in Rossville IN. Janelle was inspired to be a Registered Nurse by watching her mom, who is also a Registered Nurse, deal with chronic illness as well as her interest in visiting elderly neighbors as a child.  Janelle earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from St Elizabeth School of Nursing in 2008 and has worked as an ICU nurse, managed an On-site clinic for employers and worked as a school nurse in Rossville until starting her own Concierge Wellness business in 2020.

Janelle has had a long-time interest in fitness and, besides her jobs in Nursing, worked part time as a fitness/lifestyle coach before starting Resurrection Health. “I always loved fitness and what it has done for me with my personal goals. I felt an ache to help others.  When COVID came along, I could see a shift in the culture of people realizing the need for co-morbidity management.  Behavioral changes through lifestyle coaching, which includes good nutrition, exercise and fitness, can greatly improve a person’s health and energy. I wanted to provide a company that had a variety of wellness options under one roof,” Janelle said.

Although Resurrection Health has grown rapidly in the last 3 years with mobile visits and various temporary clinic sites in the area, the dream of having services provided under one roof will be realized on Aug 5, 2023, with a Grand Opening of the new facility which is located at 3830 South St, Lafayette. The hours of the Grand Opening are 11-4, all are welcome to come tour our new facility and meet our health care providers.

The new Resurrection Health facility offers many services for people seeking optimal health and well-being of body, mind and spirit.  “We are a ‘Wellness Spa’ that offers all the tools and resources to fully optimize a person’s health under one roof.  We provide hydration and IV vitamin therapy, fitness and nutrition coaching, hormone optimization, Botox treatments, Cold Plunge/Fit Sauna, Esthetics and massage.  Our IV vitamin therapy provides the best route of administration and absorption for our body to receive nutrients.   Since our bodies are made of cells and we know our cells need hydration and nourishment, we know that IV vitamin therapy is the best way to enhance those levels without the side effects of poor gut health or absorption issues. Our facility is a ‘one stop shop’ for whatever path best suits your own needs,” Janelle said.

Besides the new on-site facility for Resurrection Health, mobile visits for individuals, parties or home visits for clients who are ill and would like to avoid an urgent care of ER visit will continue to be offered. “One of the coolest pieces is that while pivoting into an on-site location we will always have home visits available because we realize the value of having an RN come to one’s home, especially when they are ill. This home visit can minimize the ER costs and the ER wait while we are able to have that expertise and clinical knowledge in the comfort of a client’s own home.  We are also fortunate to have Dr Autherine Whyte, who is a board-certified MD, help us support and grow the mission of Resurrection Health,” Janelle shared.

Janelle says she could not have started and maintained her thriving business without the support and encouragement of many people in the last few years. “I could not have done this by myself, my parents and family have been a great help in many ways.  My husband Curt has been at my side since day one and has encouraged me through all the fears to do this.  I am very blessed,” Janelle shared.

Curt says Janelle’s passion for helping others is grounded in her Faith and he is continually amazed by her efforts and the energy she gives to serve others. “Janelle really has a heart for helping people, it is a drive and a passion, and she doesn’t hold anything back.  Janelle truly loves people and wants to provide tools to help them feel better and to succeed.  Our Christian faith teaches that we are to serve and love others and Janelle takes that to the next level.  We have worked together on a lot of projects over the years, and it just works. It helps that our faith gives us a perspective not to rely on the world because the world will always let us down.  Trusting in God gives us hope and helps us see the bigger picture,” Curt said.

Anyone who knows Janelle realizes she is passionate about her vision to support others in their wellness journey and her enthusiasm is contagious. Renee Bunch RN works full time for Resurrection Health and was Janelle’s first hire in June of 2022. “Janelle is an extremely humble, passionate, strong-willed, determined and hard-working health care professional.  I have known her since we were kids and I know she is also a loving and caring wife, mother, daughter, friend and child of God.  Janelle practices what she preaches, she is real and authentic and if that is not admirable, respectable and exactly what our medical community needs then I don’t know what is! Janelle empowers me professionally and personally to continually strive to be better, love harder and choose a healthier lifestyle,” Renee shared.

Resurrection Health believes striving for optimal health is the best investment you can make in yourself and for those you love. “I believe we are put on this Earth to serve others.  If you are healthy, you are functioning at an optimal rate to serve others which makes you a better Mom, Dad, Husband, Wife, Friend or Co-worker when you have good health,” Janelle said.

Janelle credits her relationship with God as her motivation to start the Resurrection Health company. “Christ is the foundation of the care I deliver as a Registered Nurse. Christ is the foundation of the company and the reason I named it Resurrection Health. Like everyone, I have had trials as a teenager and a young adult and what Jesus has done for me, my relationship with Him and the hope that He’s given me is something I want to be able to share with others.  Scripture talks a lot about this one ‘vessel’ we have been given, that is our body, mind and soul. If we don’t take good care of this vessel, we can’t serve one another and live out the mission of what we are here to do as followers of Jesus Christ,” Janelle believes.

One thing many of us struggle with in our demanding, fast-paced world is fatigue, stress and lack of energy. “With the nature of our society, there is going to be stress.  We don’t always eat properly, we may not be moving correctly or exercising enough, we may have chronic illness or immunity problems. Resurrection Health has the diagnostic tools available at our new clinic to access your bloodwork and make recommendations based upon your levels for IV nutrition therapy.  We are also looking into ways of optimizing hormonal levels in the most bioidentical way (bioidentical means the most human like way to receive a hormone) which is at a molecular level. A bioidentical hormone is able to be received as it was designed as a normal hormone,” Janelle said.

An urgent care clinic will also be opening soon at the new facility that will offer point of care testing for strep, influenza etc. and will have a Nurse Practitioner available for treatment. (Cash pricing/HSA accounts).

The last few decades have seen a shift away from family-owned medical communities and Janelle strives to provide an atmosphere where clients and staff feel empowered by her passion and serving others. “I would like people who might be interested to know that the staff are all relatable humans and that is at the heart of our care. Our mission is to make sure people feel heard, that we take the time to listen and if we don’t have the resources, we are going to help them find what they need. We are a team at Resurrection Health. We are not like every other medical clinic in many ways,” Janelle stated.

We hope you can join us for our Grand Opening on Aug 5. Please come and bring a friend! If you are unable to come, please check out our Resurrection Health website for services or give us a call at 765-427-9100.  We would love to talk to you and share ideas of ways of optimizing your health so you can enjoy life and serve those you love more fully.

The motto at Resurrection Health is “Nourishing Cells, Nourishing Souls” and we take that very seriously.  While it is of upmost importance to assist you in taking good care of your body, more importantly we care about you as a whole person, body and soul.  You are not just a body to be nourished but you are a unique and beautiful person to be loved.

We look forward to meeting you and discussing ideas for your individual needs and lifestyle.

Improving Gut Health

If you were given an instruction book entitled “The Care and Maintenance of Me” when you were born, you might be very surprised to see how high the importance of good “gut health” would be to your overall physical and mental health and wellbeing.  Our digestive system, including the entrance and the exit and everything in between, is a whopping 33 feet long!  Our gastrointestinal tract contains trillions of bacterial, fungal and viral cells that make up our gut microbiome.  There are different types of gut microbes which work in harmony with our hormones, chemical reactions, secretions and muscle contractions as we chew, swallow and digest food and drinks. The digestive process, and how efficiently it is working, affects much more than just our digestive tract.   Having a healthy gut microbiome (think of “microbiome” as environment) helps not only good digestion but also keeps us healthy by destroying harmful bacteria and helps control our immune system and energy levels.

Our body is a miracle in its ability to process the food we put in, break it down for fuel and eliminate waste.  Developing a healthy gut microbiome is a significant way to improve health and increase the function of our bodies. There are many ways we can assist our digestive system with this task.

Gut microbes (or cells) live inside our digestive tract and are either “good” or “bad”.    These trillions of cells in your gut are crucial to the breakdown, absorption and storage of carbohydrates, amino acids, and lipids which influence weight control, performance, immunity and energy levels.  The greater the diversity of types of microbes in your gut, the better for your health. Obviously, we want to have and maintain a healthy gut microbiome for optimal weight, good health, longevity and peak performance.

Dysbiosis is the imbalance of gut microbes or too many “bad” microbes. Recent studies have found that dysbiosis contributes to many other illnesses you may not have associated with your gut.

Weight gain and obesity are common in people who are in a state of dysbiosis. The population of overweight people has greatly increased in the US in the last 50 years.  As we eat more processed foods with higher levels of sugar and fat, we seem to be statistically trending upwards in weight gain. Surprisingly, artificial sweeteners can also contribute to dysbiosis causing weight gain.

Many people who suffer from chronic skin conditions such as eczema and psoriasis have an imbalance in their gut microbiome that affects the immune system. Irritable bowel disease and inflammatory bowel disease often are linked to problems with an imbalance in the gut microbiome.

Auto-immune diseases are illnesses caused when the body cannot recognize the difference between its own cells and foreign cells and mistakenly attacks itself.  Type 1 diabetes, lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, multiple sclerosis, alopecia are all examples of auto-immune disease and research has discovered may be affected by a poor gut microbiome.

We are all wired with a “gut-brain axis” which is the communication of our nervous system with our gastrointestinal system.  Gut bacteria are responsible for producing beneficial neurotransmitters such as serotonin and dopamine.  Depression may be caused by an imbalance in our gut microbiome. We have all experienced the communication between our gut and brain when a stressful situation produces a stomachache, vomiting or diarrhea.

Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease and atherosclerosis (hardening of the arteries) have all been found by researchers over the last few years to be associated with dysbiosis.

Infertility is linked to gut imbalance because gut microbiota can affect the endocrine system and hormones that influence the ability to conceive.

An imbalance of proper gut microbiomes can also lead to Metabolic Syndrome which leads to a host of problems including heart disease, stroke, high blood pressure, obesity.  (Metabolic Syndrome was discussed in previous blog if you ‘d like more information on what it is and how to prevent it).

Dietary changes in modern society and the widespread use of antibiotics may cause dysbiosis which can also contribute to any of the above-mentioned diseases.

As you can see, a balanced and healthy gut is crucial to your health including your immune system, energy levels, weight control, mental acuity and emotional health. There are ways to improve your gut microbiome that you can begin today. We also have many resources at Resurrection Health, including exercise and wellness coaching, dietary and exercise counseling and Thorne supplements that can be targeted for your specific needs.

Here are a few ideas to get started on creating a good gut microbiome:

Increase the diversity of the cells in your gut microbiome.  The more species of bacteria in your intestines, the healthier your gut so eat a diverse range of whole foods. Try to buy your food items from the perimeter of the store choosing fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grains and lean protein. Decrease your intake of processed food such as sodas, crackers, chips and cookies that tend to be located in the middle of the grocery store.

Increase your fiber intake by eating foods high in fiber such as beans, lentils, chickpeas.  If you don’t know what a lentil is, Resurrection Health can help.  Fruits and vegetables are delicious and a great source of fiber.

Eat fermented foods (sugars are broken down into yeast or bacteria) such as yogurt or kefir.  Look for yogurts low in sugar and packaging that says “contains live active cultures” on container.

If you are in your childbearing years, breastfeed.  Breast milk provides an optimal source of healthy microbiomes for your baby that will be of benefit through their adulthood.

Eat foods rich in polyphenols which can reduce blood pressure, inflammation, cholesterol levels and oxidative stress. And here is the good news you’ve been waiting for: cocoa, dark chocolate and red wine are rich in polyphenols! Other foods rich in polyphenols are raspberries, artichokes, green peas, broccoli, bananas, apples-more fruits and vegetables, I’m seeing a theme here!

Consider taking probiotics and/or prebiotics as part of your daily routine. Thorne supplements are an excellent resource in assisting with improving your gut microbiome and helping you look and feel your best and can help target other imbalances in your body microbiome.

And finally, exercise. Experts are finding exercise is the single most important thing you can do to improve longevity and health.  Moving your body keeps everything moving, including your digestive tract.  Investing in a daily walk is the best thing you can do for yourself.

Clients who are receiving Semaglutide need to be diligent in good gut health due to changes in their gastric motility and the possible side effect of constipation.  Colon health is good for everyone, we have ideas not only for clients receiving Semaglutide but for all our clients on how to keep things moving along.

If optimal gut health sounds like something you would like to know more about or are looking for ways to improve your overall health then “listen to your gut” and see what we can do to improve how you feel and look with a consultation with one of our Concierge Registered Nurses and/or our Registered Dietician.

We would love to assist you on your journey to a healthy and happy gut as we continue our mission at Resurrection Health to; “nourish cells, nourish souls”.

Metabolic Syndrome: How to Prevent Disease and Enjoy the Gift of your Life

It all begins with an idea.

There are many people who have a great love and appreciation for cars. Suppose you have a Dad who loves you very much and one day he hands you the keys to a big beautiful car. The car is truly one-of-a- kind as there will never be another one just like it. This car is in pristine condition, and it is extremely special since it is the only car you will ever own. How would you treat the car? Most people would not forget to change the oil in the car for fear of destroying the engine. You would put air in the tires, rotate them and buy new ones to prevent a blow out on the highway or an accident. No one would put Kool-Aid in the gas tank or forget to wash the salt or dirt off the exterior in order to prevent rust and corrosion. Lots of people take great care in the upkeep and maintenance of their cars because it is much easier to prevent problems, and the breakdown of the car, than try to fix it after the damage has been done. Obviously, it is not a good idea to neglect our vehicles if we want to enjoy them for a very long time.

Our bodies are similar in many ways to the care and maintenance of an automobile, yet sometimes we can forget to take better care of our bodies than we do a prized car.

Metabolic Syndrome is a cluster of conditions that can cause serious harm to our bodies if we neglect the great gift God gave us; this beautiful, “one-of-a-kind” body. Just like that perfect car, we are only given one body. Over 3 million people in the United States, and more than 9% of children (ages 12-20), suffer from Metabolic Syndrome which can lead to an increased risk of heart disease, diabetes, and stroke. The good news is there are many things we can do to reduce or eliminate the chance of these diseases and thereby decrease the possibility of early mortality.

The combination of obesity (especially an increased waist circumference) along with elevated blood pressure, elevated triglycerides and elevated blood sugar are the leading culprits for people who suffer from Metabolic Syndrome. A sedentary lifestyle in combination with poor nutrition can cause our bodies to become insulin resistant so our cells are not getting the insulin they need which leads to Type II diabetes. Of course, there are pharmaceuticals and treatments available, which should all be under the supervision of our doctors and medical care team, but there are many things we can do to prevent or correct Metabolic Syndrome and hopefully have a long and vibrant life.

Finding time to exercise and moving our bodies is extremely beneficial to our health. Walking on a regular basis is a good way to start moving, it isn’t necessary to start an exercise program with a grueling two-hour, high impact, weightlifting regimen. Start small, everyone can walk and improve on walking briskly. You may be surprised to learn that a daily walk can become enjoyable and something to look forward to. Walking improves blood flow to the brain as well as overall fitness and many people report improvements in mood and mental health by walking. Resurrection Health has a Nurse Personal Trainer available for consultation for your specific needs and lifestyle.

Yes, we all have hectic lives, but investing in this one and only body by moving and making your health a priority is probably the best thing you can do for yourself to prevent disease. You are worth that investment!

Just as we wouldn’t put poor quality gas or oil in our cars, it’s a good idea to consider the foods we put in our mouths. We all know good nutrition leads to more energy, an appropriate weight for our height and a more efficient immune system. As we eat better, we feel better. The less fast food, processed foods and junk foods we ingest, the more efficiently our “machine” runs. Whole foods, such as lean protein, fruits and vegetables, nuts and whole grains high in fiber help us feel and look our best. Resurrection Health has a Nutritionist on staff to help educate and guide you on the best foods for your specific needs. We also have a Behavioral Counselor who can help unlock reasons for our food decisions and help clients be aware of the reasons they may not be making the best choices for overall fitness.

Resurrection Health is under the direction of a Physician, Dr Authrine Whyte, and we now have the ability to provide the drug Semaglutide to clients who may need assistance in weight loss. A consultation can help us decide if you are a candidate for Semaglutide and you may discover our rates are more affordable than other providers, and our oversight is pretty phenomenal, too! There are also other supplemental options available given through injection or IV solution such as Lipo B, Vitamin B 12 and Amino Acids (just to name a few) that may aid in weight control. A healthy weight reduces, and could prevent, the cycle of the cluster of diseases that constitute Metabolic Syndrome (elevated blood sugar, elevated BP and elevated triglycerides). You are the owner and operator of your body but there is a “pit crew” of Resurrection healthcare team members who would be honored to assist you in the shared decision making for your health and fitness.

If you are reading this and wondering if it’s too late and there is too much damage already done, rest assured, it is not too late. Metabolic Syndrome can be corrected and there are Concierge Nurses at Resurrection Health who would be happy to discuss a plan to get your body in optimal shape.

Good health is a priority for everyone. No one wants diabetes which can lead to kidney failure, nerve damage or loss of vision. No one wants heart disease which can lead to hardening of the arteries, stroke and heart attack. Prevention is the key to living a long life and being able to enjoy it as disease free as possible.

The motto of Resurrection Health is “Nourishing cells, Nourishing souls”. We recognize that we aren’t just a body, we have been given a soul to go with it. A Father who loves us actually did “hand us the keys” to this one-of-a-kind body and soul. As we appreciate and improve in the care of this gift of body and soul, we may discover we have more energy and goodness to put out into the world and that is an awesome way to share this precious gift with others.

The staff of Resurrection Health would be honored to work with you in looking and feeling great.

The Value Of A Concierge Nurse

If you have ever been on vacation traveling in an unfamiliar city or country, you may have discovered that consulting with a Concierge was invaluable to your stay in the area.  A “Concierge” is usually a hotel employee whose job it is to discuss your interests and needs and help you develop a personal plan in achieving your goals in a foreign land.  A Concierge bases their recommendations on what is best for you as an individual because they want you to have a wonderful time and enjoy your stay. You could say being a Concierge is very similar to being a coach; a person who has the skills, time and expertise to assist you in having a great outcome.

Concierge Nursing is kind of like advising people on vacation.   A good Concierge realizes you may only have this one time to experience a city, as you have only one body, and that you may feel lost in the foreign land of medical jargon and quick remedies.  Concierge Nursing, or “Nursing Coach,” is designed to assist clients by helping them target their health concerns and creating a plan for better health and fitness.  It is a strategy developed together between a client and coach to achieve optimum health and fitness.  A common goal for our clients is to feel better, perhaps look better, and to get the most out of the body they have been given. Considering the whole person- body, mind and soul- is crucial to finding the best plan for each individual.

IV vitamin therapy and vitamin injections are tools available to support your health. Although oral vitamins and supplements may be helpful in improving your health, our bodies only absorb 30% when taken orally while 90% of vitamins are absorbed intravenously or intramuscularly.  IV vitamin therapy is an effective way to nourish your cells.  Many people find IV vitamin infusions as a great way to optimize their health as it supports things such as energy, immunity, bone strength, hair loss and weight control.

We all want to feel better.  A common concern in our fast-paced world seems to be lack of energy.  How often do we hear our friends, family members or co-workers repeatedly say; “I’m so tired?”  How often do we hear ourselves utter those words? There seems to be a pandemic of fatigue all around us.   Concierge nurses listen to your energy depletion issues and can help you create a plan. There may be other reasons for low energy besides stress and a hectic lifestyle.  Resurrection Health offers diagnostics (such as blood tests) that may point to a deficiency in your body that is causing chronic fatigue.

Nurse coaching can help clients enjoy life more fully.  If we don’t have the energy to get off the couch, we may be creating a vicious cycle with our mental health (depression) which can decrease our ability to appreciate the wonder and beauty of nature or the goodness of the people around us.  A nourished body supports a nourished soul.

These last 3 years, since the COVID pandemic wreaked havoc on our society, most of us would like to find ways to boost our immunity to protect against not only COVID, but other viruses and contagions around us.  Concierge nurses can advise on antioxidants to increase our immunity as well as other ideas to protect us from germs.

Brain health and support can also be addressed by a Nurse Concierge.  Infusions have been developed to improve cognition the last several years which many clients have found helpful in focusing and memory improvement.

So many of us struggle with our weight, whether it be a few extra pounds that we have put on over the holidays or a life-long battle with the scale, there are supplements available to increase metabolism. These supplements can help shed pounds, especially when paired with exercise and good dietary choices.

Concierge Nursing is done under the supervision of a medical doctor.  If you have special health issues or concern, there is availability to have a telehealth conference with our physician or nurse practitioner to implement a plan to support you through your specific medical conditions.

We all know there is not one magic quick fix or easy answer to a perfect body. Resurrection Health would like to assist you in finding a program to target your own personal needs and support you in your desire for good health, energy and longevity.  The nurses at Resurrection Health don’t just see a body, we see the whole person made in the image of God.  Our motto is “nourishing cells, nourishing souls.”  We recognize each client is a unique and beautiful soul and we want to encourage you to enjoy this very special gift of your life.

Please give us a call if you’d like assistance in finding the best plan for better health, fitness and joy in living this one precious life God has given you.
